PREAMBLE

We, the alumni extension of the National Society of Black Engineers, do hereby dedicate ourselves to develop intensive programs to increase the participation of Black and other ethic minorities in the field of engineering and engineering technology, to develop a standard of excellence among minority students, practicing engineers, and physical/computer scientists by forming The Gateway Chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers Alumni Extension, a non-profit organization.

Chapter Programs

PCI (Pre-College Initiative )

The National Society of Black Engineers Pre-College Initiative program will lead the world in enhancing the pre-college students’ Academic, Technical, and Leadership skills in order to maximize their success in life.
ThePre-College Initiative (PCI) Program is designed to stimulate the interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields, or STEM.  The goal is to encourage students in grades K-12 to attend college and pursue technical degrees.  Our PCI program provides activities to help students discover firsthand how engineering and technology relate to the world around them and discover the excitement of academic excellence, leadership, technical development and teamwork.

During the 2010-2011 operating year, the Gateway Chapter will promote the career paths of students and professionals in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math), as well as, supports professional growth and technical excellence within the St. Louis engineering community by:
providing and supporting students and professionals with mentoring
preparing professionals in the St. Louis metro area for a challenging and diversified workplace
assisting students to discover STEM related internships and cooperative job opportunities
establishing and maintaining relationships with corporate sponsors
